Rebecca Stebbins Rebecca paints primarily outdoors en plein air to capture a moment or a fragment of the landscape that surrounds her. Whether at home in California or travelling abroad, the world of nature has always held an allure. When the weather is unsuitable for painting outside, she heads to the studio with flowers or fruits from the garden. Born in Seattle, raised in the midwest, and educated on the east coast, Rebecca has lived in the Santa Barbara area for more than 25 years. She teaches art at The Howard School and the Carpinteria Family School and also provides drawing and painting lessons for children and adults. She is on the board of SCAPE (Southern California Artists Painting for the Environment), and belongs to the Santa Barbara Art Association and the Carpinteria Valley Arts Council. In addition to painting regularly in California, she has been fortunate to travel to France for the past few summers and was selected for a residency at Atelier de la Rose in Montcabrier in 2010. Gloria Swanson claimed that "All creative people should be required to leave California for three months every year." With that in mind, she is looking forward to returning to France for another painting adventure this summer. The Carpinteria Studio
